When God has Other Plans
By Cheryl Henderson
Have you ever wanted to do something for God to bring honor and glory to His name?
King David wanted to do just that! He looked around at how he was enjoying his house and it bothered him that the Ark of God was dwelling in tents. So in his heart he wanted to build a temple for the presence of the Lord to dwell.
However, God sent word by the prophet Nathan that He had other plans. David was a man of war and some say that it was that David had shed too much blood and it disqualified him from building the temple. I am sure that David was disappointed that God had someone else picked out to build the temple. (2Samuel 7:12-14)
Have you been disappointed when you wanted to do something for the Lord and He said no, I have someone else to do that? As I have thought about that I am reminded of David's response.
In verse 18 of Chapter 7 David went in and sat before the Lord. In verse 23 David began to praise the Lord. He began to tell God how great and mighty He is. He worshiped and Praised the Lord in spite of his disappointment.
When things do not go the way you think they should, when you are disappointed, do what David did. Go in and sit before the Lord and Pray and Praise His Name for all that He has done in your life.
